How It Works

What if I processed YOUR astrophotography data?

As a Galactic Course member, you can submit one of your unprocessed master files for a chance to have me process it from start to finish in a complete Galactic Course tutorial.

Every 3–4 months, I'll select one submission and create a complete processing walkthrough using that member's data.

How to Participate

Here is what to do:

➥ī¸ Calibrate and stack your data so that you have a MASTER file ready for processing.
If you used multiple filters, you can submit multiple master files from the same project.

➥ī¸ Upload your file(s) using the button below

â„šī¸ I may not be able to process every submission, so don't be discouraged if yours isn't selected!

Details

  • If your data is selected, I'll process it from start to finish and turn the entire session into a full Galactic Course tutorial.
  • You'll get to see exactly how I approach real-world astrophotography data, including the decisions I make along the way.
  • The finished tutorial will then become part of the relevant processing guide, and may be shared on the Galactic Lounge, so other members can learn from it too.

File not picked, or need more data processed? This service is available as often as needed HERE.

FAQ

  • What kind of data should I submit?

Submit a project that you've already calibrated and stacked but haven't processed successfully yet. It could be: A nebula A galaxy A star cluster A narrowband project A broadband project Or anything else you'd like to see processed The more interesting the challenge, the better!

  • Can I submit more than one project?

Yes, but no more than three. Remember that I can only pick one project out of all submissions every 3-4 months.

  • How long will the tutorial be?

It depends on your data, but usually, the video is between 20 and 35 minutes.

  • What software will you be using?

I will be using PixInsight. In some rare cases, I'll also use Affinity (free) for a small fraction of the tutorial to fix specific problems, but only if needed.
