Smart Telescope Selection

Covers multiple smart telescopes

What makes a smart telescope "Smart"? What is Live Stacking? What are the different brands of smart telescopes and which one is best for you?
This chapter will teach you how smart telescopes work and what makes them different from traditional setups. We'll also take a look at the different brands and types so that you can get familiar with all smart telescopes and not just the one you already own!

Master Proper Planning

Covers multiple smart telescopes

Without proper planning, you risk ruining an entire night and coming home empty-handed! In this chapter, you'll learn to plan your night, know what to expect once you arrive on the field, and ensure you'll have a successful time under the stars. Get ideas on targets to shoot with your smart telescope, learn how to input your scope in Stellarium and SkySafari, and more.

Master Smart Telescope Filters

Covers multiple smart telescopes

Understand what filters are and when to use them! No matter if they are built-in or need to be attached physically, smart telescope filters can be a little confusing but are all very important to use depending on the type of target you are imaging.

CLS, VIS, Solar, Duoband, Astro... You'll know exactly what each does and which one to use after completing this chapter!

Master your Telescope

Unistellar-specific

This chapter will cover your first day with your Unistellar smart telescope. We'll take it out of the box, take a good look at the unit, and understand its specifications and how it works. Learn all about your smart telescope, how to charge it, setting it up, and more.

Unistellar App Mastery

Unistellar-specific

Before you start imaging, you will need to download the Unistellar app on your phone or tablet. It is through the app that you will be able to control the telescope and shoot the night sky.

In this chapter, we'll go over the app in depth to ensure that once outside, you do not get frustrated by the different tabs and menus. Learn everything from creating your account to tweaking settings to managing storage and more.

Imaging with the Unistellar Smart Telescope

Unistellar-specific

This is where you'll learn the best techniques to capture any type of target with your Unistellar smart telescope. See how to image a galaxy millions of light-years away, the planet Jupiter, the Moon, and even the Sun!
Also learn how to take calibration frames, what the Vivid Vision technology is, how to participate in scientific missions, and how to use custom settings in the app.

Data Processing

In this chapter, you will learn how to easily transfer your files from your Unistellar smart telescope to your computer. You'll then see what Debayering is and how it's important. Then, see comparison images between in-app processing and manual processing to give you an idea of how important it is to manually process your files. You then have access to full video-walkthroughs explaining how to process smart telescope data from beginning to end!
